The Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador, along with its supporters, is proud to bring you the province's First Annual Folklife Festival. This year the theme is Newfoundland and Labrador's Christmas mummering tradition, in all its various forms. The Mummers Festival is a series of events all leading up to the Mummers Parade on December 20th. For information about participating or volunteering visit The Mummers Festival Website.
The Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador invites your school to participate in our Annual Youth Heritage Poster Contest. Create a poster that depicts a historic place in your community and prepare a written statement explaining why you feel the place is important. The deadline is December 21, 2009. - The Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador will be holding a general meeting to discuss ways in which community members can get involved in our Mummers Festival. - Doors Open Newfoundland and Labrador 2009 is a unique opportunity for the citizens and visitors of Newfoundland and Labrador to celebrate our architecture and heritage through the exploration of some of our hidden historical, architectural and cultural gems. Buildings that are normally closed to the public or charge an entrance fee welcome visitors to look around for free. Doors Open St. John's will take place on September 12 & 13th. - The Newfoundland Heritage Trust is looking for new board members. Prospective candidates would have knowledge and experience dealing with issues pertaining to built heritage preservation, and would be interested in playing an advocay role within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
